تُراني قد خُلِقْتُ بلا مَرَارَهْ
Do you think me made of iron or stone?
Do you think I was created without gall?
أظلُّI keep أَروضُI tame فيin حُبِّيكlove for you نفسيmyself
أظلُّ أَروضُ في حُبِّيك نفسي
وأنتand you تروضُtrain نفسكyourself فيin العيارهroguery
وأنت تروضُ نفسك في العياره
I keep taming my soul to love you,
while you train your soul in roguery.
عفاfaded رسمُthe trace التجارةof trade منكَfrom you لماwhen
عفا رسمُ التجارة منكَ لما
غنيتَyou had no need عنof التجارةtrade بالإجارهthrough hire
غنيتَ عن التجارة بالإجاره
The trace of trade faded from you when
you no longer needed trade, thanks to hire.
تكادُyou almost إِذwhen نظرتَyou looked إلىat مُشيرٍsomeone beckoning
تكادُ إِذ نظرتَ إلى مُشيرٍ
تطيرُyou fly إِليهto him منfrom قبلِbefore الإشارهthe signal
تطيرُ إِليه من قبلِ الإشاره
When you see someone beckoning, you almost
fly to him before he even signals.
ولمand not أكُI was بالجسورbold علىin سُلُوٍّceasing to love
ولم أكُ بالجسور على سُلُوٍّ
فقدso indeed علَّمتنيyou have taught me الآنَnow الجسارهboldness
فقد علَّمتني الآنَ الجساره
I had not been bold enough to forget you;
yet now you have taught me boldness.
