    Abu Hashim, among men, is his cousin's opposite,

    as the dog is the gazelle's opposite—so examine and report.

    وذاك سريٌّ كلّ ما شئتَ من سري

    Abu Hashim is vile and lowborn, like his grandfather;

    and the other is noble—as noble as you could wish.

    Abu Hashim is from Bakhashitha, while the other is from

    Kurayz—so why is musk paired with shit?

    The former has indeed surpassed the latter in ugliness of appearance and character,

    just as the latter has surpassed him in excellence of judgment and character.

    وإِنَّ أبا العباس جوهرُ جوهرِ

    Abu Hashim is as filthy as a privy's sandal;

    and indeed Abu al-Abbas is a jewel of jewels.
