وَخَلَّقتُهُ حَتّى إِذا تَمَّ وَاِستَوى

وَخَلَّقتُهُ حَتّى إِذا تَمَّ وَاِستَوى

كَمُخَّةِ ساقٍ أَو كَمَتنِ إِمامِ

كَمُخَّةِ ساقٍ أَو كَمَتنِ إِمامِ

And I smoothed it until it was complete and straight,

And I shaped him and when he was fully formed

Like the marrow of a shank, or the body of a builder’s guide-line.

Like a date palm trunk or like a firmly anchored leader
