A paltry little tribe of Qays Kubbah, driven

to the people of Najd by its baseness and poverty,

like an extra finger the fingers have no need

of; nor is its disgrace hidden from anyone.

By what rope, O son of Arbad, do you climb

to the sun when it stands still at its zenith and its day grows long?
