أَنتُمyou شُموسsuns لِلوَرىfor humankind أشرقَتhave risen
لَكِنَّهاbut they فيin الجانبthe side الغَربيwestern
You are suns that have risen for humankind,
You are suns that have shone on the land
Yet they are in the western quarter.
But they are in the west
لَوif زُرتُمونيyou visited me فيin ظَلامdarkness الدُجىthe darkness of night
لَكانَthen would be ذاthat مِنfrom عُمريmy lifetime حَسبيenough for me
If you visited me in the darkness of night,
If you visited me in the darkness of night
That would suffice me for a lifetime.
That would be enough life for me
حَلَلتُمyou have settled in قَلبيmy heart فَهلso is there زلةa fault
استغفرI seek forgiveness اللَهGod بِلاwithout ذَنبa sin
You have settled in my heart—is that a fault?
You have occupied my heart, so is it a sin
I seek God's forgiveness, though I have committed no sin.
I ask God's forgiveness without guilt
