    I have set down at the gate of your glory, O my refuge,

    the baggage of sorrow and grievous distress.

    وَأعرض صاحِبي وَعَصى حَفيدي

    My family and brethren have all shunned me;

    and my companion has turned away, and my grandson has disobeyed me.

    And at your gate I have no intercessor

    except the poisoned one and the martyred hero.

    Through your standing, the Most Merciful dispels my distress,

    for the rope has tightened around my jugular vein.
