وَشَفَيتُ نَفسي مِن ذَوي يَمَنٍ

وَشَفَيتُ نَفسي مِن ذَوي يَمَنٍ

بِالطَعنِ في اللَبّاتِ وَالضَربِ

And I soothed my soul by avenging myself on the men of Yemen,

And I healed my soul through vengeance on the people of Yemen,

with spear-thrusts into their upper chests and with blows.

By spear-thrusts into throat-hollows and by blows.

فَقَتَلتُهُم وَأَبَحتُ بَلدَتَهُم

فَقَتَلتُهُم وَأَبَحتُ بَلدَتَهُم

وَأَقَمتُ حَولاً كامِلاً أَسبي

وَأَقَمتُ حَولاً كامِلاً أَسبي

I slew them and gave their town up to pillage;

So I killed them and laid their town open to plunder,

for one full year I remained, taking captives,

And I stayed a full year, taking captives.

وَبَنَيتُ أُطماً في بِلادِهِم

وَبَنَيتُ أُطماً في بِلادِهِم

لِأُثَبِّتَ التَقهيرَ بِالغَصبِ

لِأُثَبِّتَ التَقهيرَ بِالغَصبِ

and built a fortified tower in their land,

And I built a fortress in their lands,

to establish subjugation by force.

To secure subjugation by force.
