لَقَد أَمسى بَنو لِحيانَ مِنّي

لَقَد أَمسى بَنو لِحيانَ مِنّي

بِحَمدِ اللَهِ في خِزىٍ مُبينِ

بِحَمدِ اللَهِ في خِزىٍ مُبينِ

Indeed, the sons of Liḥyān are now, at my hands,

The people of Banu Lihian have truly been shamed by me,

Praise be to God, in manifest disgrace.

By the grace of God, in clear dishonor.

جَزَيتُهُم بِما أَخَذوا تِلادي

جَزَيتُهُم بِما أَخَذوا تِلادي

بَني لِحيانَ كَيلا يَحرَبوني

بَني لِحيانَ كَيلا يَحرَبوني

I repaid them for taking my long-held wealth—

I repaid them for attacking my people,

The sons of Liḥyān—lest they plunder me.

The people of Banu Lihian, so they would not fight me again.

تَخِذتُ غَرازَ إِثرَهُم دَليلاً

تَخِذتُ غَرازَ إِثرَهُم دَليلاً

وَفَرّوا في الحِجازِ لِيُعجِزوني

وَفَرّوا في الحِجازِ لِيُعجِزوني

I took Gharāz as a guide along their trail,

I followed their footsteps as a guide,

And they fled into the Ḥijāz to elude me.

And they fled into Hejaz to evade me.

وَقَد عَصَّبتُ أَهلَ العَرجِ مِنهُم

وَقَد عَصَّبتُ أَهلَ العَرجِ مِنهُم

بِأَهلِ صُوائِقٍ إِذ عَصّبوني

بِأَهلِ صُوائِقٍ إِذ عَصّبوني

And I have bound their people of al-ʿArj

And I have united the people of al-‘Arj among them

To the people of Ṣuwāʾiq, when they bound me.

With the people of Suwaik, when they united against me.
