تداركنا قيس بن أوس بسبقه

وسار من البلقاء غير مكذب

Qays ibn Aus overtakes us with his lead

يسوم ويستدري الغلام عنانه

إذا ما جرت من غائط متصوب

He drives the young camel and pulls its rein

When it strays towards a leaning wall

تباري مراخيها الرياح كأنها

ضراء دوان من جداية حلب

Its tent ropes compete as the winds blow

A shelter of leather from Aleppo

يسمن معاً يرجونها وهي كلما

دنون تراخت جمة المتصوب

Together they fatten, hoping for it, but whenever

They come near, the leaning one slackens
