لِقَلبي عَن مُطاوَعَةِ اللَواحي

لِقَلبي عَن مُطاوَعَةِ اللَواحي

عَلى وَلَهي إِذا نَصَحوا نُشوزُ

عَلى وَلَهي إِذا نَصَحوا نُشوزُ

My heart rebels against heeding the reproachers

My heart refuses to obey the censures

when they counsel me about my lovesick yearning.

Of those who advise against my infatuation

وَأَهوى في مَحَبَّتِكُم تُلافي

وَأَهوى في مَحَبَّتِكُم تُلافي

وَما تَلَفي عَلى كَلَفي عَزيزُ

وَما تَلَفي عَلى كَلَفي عَزيزُ

And I desire my own ruin in loving you;

And I am enamored with loving you all

nor is my ruin too dear a price for my passion.

Not even what's difficult is too dear for me

أَيا مَن ضَيَّعوا عَهدي وَعِندي

أَيا مَن ضَيَّعوا عَهدي وَعِندي

لِحِفظِ عُهودِهِم حَرِزٌ حَريزُ

لِحِفظِ عُهودِهِم حَرِزٌ حَريزُ

O you who have neglected my covenant, while I have

Oh you who broke their promise and pact with me

a well-guarded refuge to preserve their covenants.

While keeping their promises is well-guarded

رَمَزتُ صَبابَتي بِكُمُ وَدَمعي

رَمَزتُ صَبابَتي بِكُمُ وَدَمعي

تُحَلُّ بِهِ لَعُذّالي الرُموزُ

تُحَلُّ بِهِ لَعُذّالي الرُموزُ

I expressed my longing for you in symbols, and my tears

I hinted with my youthfulness and tears for you

unravel those symbols for my reproachers.

With it, symbols dissolve for my tormentors
