لا كُنتُ إِن كانَ لِقَلبي التَذاذ

لا كُنتُ إِن كانَ لِقَلبي التَذاذ

بِغَيرِكُم أَو بِسِواكُم مَلاذ

بِغَيرِكُم أَو بِسِواكُم مَلاذ

May I cease to be, if ever my heart should find delight

May I be no more if my heart finds delight

in any but you, or refuge in anyone besides you.

In anyone but you, or refuge with anyone else.

وَما لَهُ إِلّا بِسُلطانِكُم

وَما لَهُ إِلّا بِسُلطانِكُم

في نَفذِ أَقطارِ حِماكُم نَفاذ

في نَفذِ أَقطارِ حِماكُم نَفاذ

And only through your sovereign power can it gain

And only by your authority can it

passage through the gateways to the reaches of your inviolable domain.

Pass through the reaches of your sanctuary.

وَمُذلَكُم أَضحى خَليلَ الهَوى

وَمُذلَكُم أَضحى خَليلَ الهَوى

أَعادَ أَوثانَ الأَعادي جُذاذ

أَعادَ أَوثانَ الأَعادي جُذاذ

And since, for your sake, it became Love’s intimate,

And since, for your sake, it became love’s intimate friend,

it reduced the foes’ idols to shards once more.

It reduced the enemies’ idols to fragments.

لِأَنَّكُم جُنَّتُهُ مِن أَذى الخَطبِ

لِأَنَّكُم جُنَّتُهُ مِن أَذى الخَطبِ

وَمِن شَرِّ المُعادي مَعاذ

وَمِن شَرِّ المُعادي مَعاذ

For you are its shield against calamity’s harm,

For you are its shield against calamity’s harm,

and its refuge from the evil of the hostile foe.

And a refuge from the evil of the foe.
