    And a countenance renowned for its ugliness,

    Resembling the loss of a blessing never met with thanks.

    As though it had been peeled away from its flesh.

    How hideous a scroll it is, spread open!

    Its heading: 'When the wild beasts are gathered.'

    What it has sent ahead and left behind curses it.

    إِن سارَ يَوماً فَالجِبالُ سُيِّرَت

    Its owner has a shameful part—if only it were covered!

    If he walks one day, then the mountains are set in motion;

    Or seeks to eat, then Hell is set ablaze.
