تَفَرَّقَbecame divided الناسُthe people فيin أَرزاقِهِمtheir livelihoods فِرَقاًinto groups
تَفَرَّقَ الناسُ في أَرزاقِهِم فِرَقاً
فَلابِسٌso one clothed مِنfrom ثَراءِabundance المالِwealth أَوor عاريnaked
فَلابِسٌ مِن ثَراءِ المالِ أَو عاري
People are divided into groups according to their livelihoods:
So one is clothed in abundant wealth, or else naked.
كَذاlikewise المَعايشُlivelihoods فيin الدُنياthis world وَساكِنُهاand its inhabitant
كَذا المَعايشُ في الدُنيا وَساكِنُها
مَقسومَةٌapportioned بَينَbetween أَدماثٍsmooth ground وَأَوعارِand rugged terrain
مَقسومَةٌ بَينَ أَدماثٍ وَأَوعارِ
Likewise, livelihoods in this world, and those who dwell in it,
Are apportioned between smooth ground and rugged terrain.
مَنwhoever ظَنَّsuspected بِاللَهِof God جَوراًinjustice فيin قَضِيَّتِهِHis judgment
مَن ظَنَّ بِاللَهِ جَوراً في قَضِيَّتِهِ
اِفتَرَّparted his lips عَنrevealing مَأثَمٍa sin فيin الدِينِreligion أَوor عارِdisgrace
اِفتَرَّ عَن مَأثَمٍ في الدِينِ أَو عارِ
Whoever suspects God of injustice in His judgment
Has parted his lips, revealing a sin against faith, or a disgrace.
