O young gazelle, without whom beauty's face would vanish,

As though Joseph, when he died, had appointed him ruler.

The charms of grace in his nature made him ruler,

So he exceeded all bounds in rule once he assumed it.

Have mercy on a lovesick youth whom none can save

From love's engulfing depths except you and God.
