وَخَيرُهُ يَحظى بِهِ الأَبعَدُ
Many a father deprives his children,
How many a parent denies his children
while one farther removed enjoys his bounty.
While strangers enjoy this bounty unfurled
كَالعَينِlike the eye لاnot تُبصِرُsees ماwhat حَولَهاaround it
كَالعَينِ لا تُبصِرُ ما حَولَها
وَلَحظُهاand its gaze يُدرِكُperceives ماwhat يبعدُis far away
وَلَحظُها يُدرِكُ ما يبعدُ
Like the eye, which does not see what surrounds it,
Like the eye that sees not what surrounds it
yet its gaze perceives what is far away.
Yet its glance can reach what's distantly furled
