A friend gave me a gift from Juwain:
A friend from Ghuwayn gifted me
Daughters of cold that suckled at two breasts:
Girls like young gazelles nursed my breasts
ماءُwater of سَحابٍclouds بِعدَafter ماءٍwater of عينِa spring
كَأَنَّهاas though they were سَبائِكُingots of اللُجينِsilver
Cloud-water after spring-water.
Their water after the water of springs
As though they were ingots of silver,
As if they are pearls from Lujain

No smith's hand fashioned them with fire;
Neither a skilled hand shaped them with fire
Or pieces of crystal that fill the eye,
Nor pieces of crystal filled with grape juice

Pure, untainted by any blemish.
Pure, without any defects
They grace the people's meeting-place—how beautifully!
Adorning the club of the people, what an adornment!

In them is a cure for deadly burning thirst.
In them is cure from the suffering of time
My love for them is love without deceit—
My love for them is a love without inclination
مَحَبَّةthe love of الشيعَةِthe Shi‘a لِلحُسَينِfor al-Husayn
Like the Shi‘a's love for al-Husayn.
Like the Shia's love for Hussein
