Welcome! May the steady rains accompany you toward me.

And the time has come for a dream of mine to be fulfilled through you.

    فَلَن تَضِلّوا وَمن بِشري لَكُم عَلَمُ

    Urge on the riding camels, even at night through an unknown wilderness;

for you will not go astray: from my gladness comes a beacon for you.

You are indeed the people whose pen excels when they write,

and whose mouth finds the decisive word when they speak.

No blundering when they pen letters, nor faltering of speech

when they gather in council, nor injustice when they judge.

Come, beloved Abu al-Asbagh; you will find a young man

warm in affection, whom no weariness diminishes.

Here is my heart: joy has borne it aloft,

if the long-striding, swift-trotting camels are carrying you.

I shall hide from the night the separation I lament,

and ask the dawn about you when it smiles.
