أُريَّةUriyya أَنتِyou فائِدَةُthe prize of الزمانِthe age
فَقَدfor indeed فُقتِyou have surpassed المَمالِكَthe kingdoms فيin مَعانِmerits
Uriyya, you are the prize of the age,
Orietta, you are the gem of time
For you have surpassed kingdoms in your merits.
You have conquered kingdoms with resolve
وَقَدand indeed رُمناكِwe sought you مِنfrom بَلَدٍa land بَعيدٍdistant
فَأَدناكِso brought you near الإِلَهُGod بِلاwithout تَوانِdelay
And we sought you from a distant land,
We sought you from a distant land
So God brought you near without delay.
God brought you near without delay
بَذَلناwe expended جُهدَناour utmost effort عَزماresolve وَحَزماًand prudence
وَوَطَّنّاand we prepared الكُماةَthe armored warriors عَلىfor الطِعانِspear combat
We gave our utmost in resolve and prudence,
We exerted our determination and prudence
And prepared the armored warriors for spear combat.
And accustomed the critics to blame
وَأَجهَدناand we exerted fully العَزائِمَresolves وَالمَساعيand efforts
وَأَعملَناand we wielded الحُسامَthe keen sword مَعَwith السِنانِthe spearhead
And we exerted our resolve and efforts to the utmost,
We employed our wills and efforts
And wielded the keen sword alongside the spearhead.
And wielded swords with spears
لِيُهَنيءmay gladden أَهلَthe people of مالِقَةَMálaga اِنتِصاريmy victory
وَإِعزازيand my granting honor لَهُمto them بَعدَafter الهَوانِhumiliation
May my victory gladden the people of Málaga,
To bring joy to the people of Malaga after my victory
And my restoring their honor after humiliation.
And honor them after humiliation
سَيُنقِذُهُمwill rescue them وَيُنميهِمand nurture them جَميعاًall
رِضاعُsuckling الخَيرِgoodness إِنif دَرَّتflows freely لِبانيmy milk
They shall all be rescued and nurtured
Suckling goodness will save and nurture them
By suckling goodness, if my milk flows freely.
If the milk of my kindness flows
وَأُرقيهِمand I raise them ذُرىthe summits of دَرَجِthe steps of المَعاليhigh honors
كَماjust as أُجنيهِمُI let them reap ثَمرَthe fruit of الأَمانيwishes
And I shall raise them to the highest steps of honor,
And I will raise them to the highest ranks
Just as I let them reap the fruit of their wishes.
As the fruit of my hopes is reaped
وَأَضعافُand many times الَّذيwhat يُبديreveals لِسانيmy tongue
إِلَيهِمto them ماwhat يَجِنُّconceals لَهُمfor them جِنانيmy heart
And many times what my tongue reveals
What my tongue expresses to them
To them is what my heart conceals for them.
Is only a portion of what my soul desires
فَحُقَّso became due عَلَيهِمُupon them شُكرُgratitude for اِمتِعاضيmy indignation
وَماand it is not خلقيmy nature اِمتِنانٌboasting of favors بِامتِنانِof favors bestowed
So they owe thanks for my indignation;
They rightly owe me gratitude
Nor is it my nature to boast of favors bestowed.
For my benevolence is not in expectation of return
وَلَكِنَّbut الحَقائِقَthe facts مُخبِراتٌbear witness
وَكَمand many a خَبَرٍreport يَنوبُstands in عَنِfor العيانِfirsthand sight
But the facts bear witness,
But truths are revealing
And many a report takes the place of firsthand sight.
And news often replaces seeing
أَلَمdid ... not? أُعتِقهُمُI free them مِنfrom ذُلِّthe humiliation of كُفرٍunbelief
جَرىran فيin ضيمِهِمoppressing them مِلءَthe full extent of العِنانِthe rein
Did I not free them from the humiliation of unbelief,
Did I not free them from the disgrace of blasphemy
That galloped with free rein in oppressing them?
That had held them tightly in its reins
وَتوراةٌand a Torah مُحَرَّقَةٌburned أَعَزَّتconferred might
فَطالَتso was prolonged ذُلَّةُthe humiliation of السَبعِthe Seven المَثانيOft-Repeated
And a burned Torah conferred might,
With the burning of their Torah their misery was prolonged
So the humiliation of the Seven Oft-Repeated was prolonged,
Until my resolute Yemeni rage was stirred
إِلىuntil أَنthat ثارَarose بيwithin me عَزمٌa resolve يَمانٍYemeni
فَأَدرَكَso attained سُؤلهُits desire العَضبُthe keen sword اليَمانيthe Yemeni
Until a Yemeni resolve arose within me,
And the unsheathed swords got to work
So the keen Yemeni sword attained its desire.
Their decree was the magic of eloquence
وَأُنضيَتِand were unsheathed الصَوارِمُthe keen swords خاطِياتٍmissing their mark
فَكانَso was قَضاؤهاtheir verdict سِحرُthe magic of البَيانِeloquence
And the keen swords were unsheathed, missing their mark,
Righteousness returned inhabited and prosperous
So their verdict was the magic of eloquence.
While wickedness demolished and in ruins
فَعادَso returned البِرُّrighteousness مَعمورَflourishing المَغانيthe abodes
وَآضَand became الفسقُwickedness مَهدومَdemolished المَبانيthe buildings
Thus righteousness returned, its abodes flourishing,
Their imam stood to pray
And wickedness was left with its buildings demolished.
And the call to prayer rang in their ears
وَقامَand stood إِمامُthe imam of جامِعِهِمtheir congregational mosque يُصَلّيpraying
وَآنسَتِand found comfort المَسامِعُthe ears بِالآذانِin the call to prayer
And the imam of their congregational mosque stood praying,
The rightly guided were either
And ears found comfort in the call to prayer.
Slain or maimed in mind among the impious
وَكانَand had been ذَووthose possessing الهُدىright guidance ماemphatic particle بَينَbetween ثاوٍone lying

قَتيلٍslain أَوor فَقيدِbereft of العَقلِreason فانِfading away
And the rightly guided had been either lying
Since the Jews joined with their piety
Slain, or bereft of reason, fading away,
The swords made permissible their wedding
مُذِsince اِقتَرَنَتbecame joined بِبَرِّهِمُto their land يَهودٌJews
أَباحَmade lawful حُسامُهُمtheir keen sword حُسنَthe beauty of القِرانِthe union
Since Jews had become joined to their land,
I seek reward for my efforts against them
Their keen sword having sanctioned that fair union.
Whether young or helper in their misguidance
عَتاديmy provision أجرُthe reward for ماwhat أولَيتُI bestowed فيهِمamong them
مِنَof الفَتَكاتِdeadly assaults بِكرٍmaiden أَوor عَوانِrenewed
My provision is the reward for what I wrought among them:
Martyrdom in God's cause will suffice
Deadly assaults, maiden or renewed.
With paradise as its reward
وَحَسبيand enough for me فيin سَبيلِthe path of اللَهGod مَوتٌa death
يَكونُwill be ثَوابُهُits reward خُلدَeternity in الجِنانِthe Gardens
And a death in God's path is enough for me,
Whose reward shall be eternity in the Gardens.
