My fetter, do you not know me to be a Muslim?

You have refused to show pity or mercy.

My blood is your drink, and the flesh you have already

    eaten—do not shatter the bones.

Abu Hashim sees me bound in you,

and turns away, his heart already shattered.

Have mercy on a little child whose mind is distraught,

who did not fear to come to you begging for mercy.

And have mercy on a little child whose mind is distraught,

you have made them swallow blindness from weeping over him.

Among them is one who understands something, and so

we have feared he might go blind from weeping.

And the other understands nothing, so he does not

open his mouth except to suckle.
