اِقنَع بِحَظِك في دُنياكَ ما كانَا

اِقنَع بِحَظِك في دُنياكَ ما كانَا

وَعَزِّ نَفسِكَ إِن فارَقت أَوطانا

وَعَزِّ نَفسِكَ إِن فارَقت أَوطانا

Be content with your lot in this world, whatever it may be.

Be content with what was destined for you in your worldly life

And console yourself if you have left your homelands.

And dignify yourself if you are away from your homeland

في اللَه مِن كُلِّ مَفقودٍ مَضى عِوَضٌ

في اللَه مِن كُلِّ مَفقودٍ مَضى عِوَضٌ

فأشَعر القَلبَ سُلوانا وَإِيمانا

فأشَعر القَلبَ سُلوانا وَإِيمانا

In God there is recompense for everything lost and gone.

For everything you lost, there is compensation from God

So imbue the heart with solace and faith.

So make your heart feel comfort and faith

أَكُلَّما سنحت ذِكرى طَربتَ لَها

أَكُلَّما سنحت ذِكرى طَربتَ لَها

مَجَّت دُموعكَ في خدّيكَ طوفانا

مَجَّت دُموعكَ في خدّيكَ طوفانا

Is it whenever a memory that stirs you comes to mind

Whenever a memory arises, you are thrilled by it

that your tears gush in a flood over your cheeks?

Your tears flow down your cheeks like a flood

أَما سَمِعتَ بِسُلطانِ شبيهكَ قَد

أَما سَمِعتَ بِسُلطانِ شبيهكَ قَد

بَزَّتهُ سودُ خُطوب الدَهر سُلطانا

بَزَّتهُ سودُ خُطوب الدَهر سُلطانا

Have you not heard of a sultan like yourself, whom

Have you not heard of a ruler like you who

the black calamities of time have stripped of sovereignty?

The sorrows of fate have humiliated him as a ruler

وَطِّن عَلى الكُرهِ وَاِرقُب إِثرَهُ فَرجاً

وَطِّن عَلى الكُرهِ وَاِرقُب إِثرَهُ فَرجاً

وَاِستَغفِر اللَهَ تَغنَم مِنهُ غُفرانا

وَاِستَغفِر اللَهَ تَغنَم مِنهُ غُفرانا

Steel yourself for hardship, and await relief in its wake.

Accept the hatred and await its consequences hopefully

And seek God's forgiveness; you will gain pardon from Him.

And ask God for forgiveness, you will gain His forgiveness
