وَساعَةً لِلزَمان مُسعفَةً

قَنَصتُ فيها أَرانِبا وَحَجَلْ

قَنَصتُ فيها أَرانِبا وَحَجَلْ

And in a favorable hour of time,

At times when fate lends a helping hour

I hunted rabbits and partridges.

I hunted hares and deer within fate's power

فَلا أَراني الإِلاهُ مِنكَ رِضاً

فَلا أَراني الإِلاهُ مِنكَ رِضاً

إِن لَم أَصِد مَن عَداكَ كُلَّ بَطَلْ

إِن لَم أَصِد مَن عَداكَ كُلَّ بَطَلْ

So may God never let me see your approval,

Yet God sees not in me a thing of worth

If I do not hunt down every champion other than you.

If I assail not every foe on earth
