سَتُرعىyou will be cherished إِذاif أُلفيتَyou are found لِلَفظِof words خازِناًa guardian
وَتُدهىand you will be afflicted إِذاif حَسَّنَتyou deem good لِلذَهَبِfor gold الخَزناhoarding
You will be cherished if you are found a guardian of words,
You will be enriched if you devote yourself as a treasurer to words,
And come to grief if you deem hoarding gold good.
And you will prosper if you refine gold as a treasurer.
فَأَنفِقso spend بِميزانٍby measure مَقالَكَyour speech وَاِبتَعِثand send forth
يَدَيكَyour two hands بِماwith what أوتيتَyou were given وَزناًpaying out وَلاand not وَزناwithholding
So spend your speech by measure, and send forth
So speak with care, weigh your words, spend
Your hands with what you have been given—paying out, not withholding.
Your hands with what you were given, in measure or without.
وَكَمand how many نِسوَةٍwomen رَبَّينَreared كَالنَخلِlike palm trees فِتيَةًyoung men
فَحُزنَso they gained بِماthrough what أَمكَنَّthey bore مِنof وَلَدٍoffspring حُزناsorrow
And how many women have reared young men like palm trees,
And how many women raise youths like palm trees
Only to gain sorrow from the children they bore.
Then grieve for the children they could not have.
