You seek a cure for what afflicts the peoples.

Take your time: the people's malady has defied a cure.

So beware a scorpion that has come upon you to sting,

and a mother of speckled serpents that has come rushing to you.

And these days have cast knowledge

your way, but found no understanding in you.

And it is not for me to judge your faith

and thereby seek out what you have concealed.

If a person refrains from harming me,

then may he be watered and tended throughout life.

And he may study, if he wishes, the Book of Moses,

and inwardly harbor, if he likes, allegiance to Isaiah.
