فَقَدfor indeed جُرتُمُyou have transgressed فيin طاعَةِobedience to الشَهَواتِthe passions
Will you not fear God, clan of Musallim?
For you have transgressed in obedience to your passions.

And do not follow Satan in his footsteps,
for how many among you follow those steps!

the sweetness of monotheism had flowed through your throats.

And for less than what you have revealed, spears have been stained,
and the horses' dark blood has swirled amid clouds of dust.

Not even these beasts approve of your conduct—
your depravity with mothers and mothers-in-law.

who fills you all with drunkenness and rapture.

to punish for mere sips of wine.

We asked the Magians about the true nature of their religion.
They said, “Yes, we do not marry sisters.

That is permitted in the original Magian faith,
but we have counted it among lapses.

And we reject monstrous deeds and seek
to prostrate ourselves before the sun's light in the mornings.”

And more excusable than your women for enduring
the shame of calamities are the she-asses of the wastes.

كَماas سُلِّطَwas unleashed البازيthe hawk عَلىupon القَطَواتِthe sandgrouse
So do not give the wayward man power over them,
as the hawk is unleashed upon the sandgrouse.

and paid no heed to fasting and prayers.

You hoped for a misguided imam at the conjunction;
then, when it passed, you said, “In years to come.”

وَلاand no بُدَّescape لِلأَيّامِfor the days مِنfrom هَنَواتِblemishes
Such are Eve's children: righteous and wicked,
and the days cannot be free of blemishes.
