punished even a few sips of wine.

More excusable than your women in bearing
disgraceful calamities are the she-asses of the wastes.

So do not place a wayward man over them,
as a falcon is set upon sandgrouse.

and cared nothing for fasting and prayers.

So it is with Eve's children, righteous and wicked;
the days must have their failings.
