مَتى ما شِئتَ مَوعِظَةً فَعَرِّج

مَتى ما شِئتَ مَوعِظَةً فَعَرِّج

بِيَثرِبَ سائِلاً عَن آلِ قَيلَه

بِيَثرِبَ سائِلاً عَن آلِ قَيلَه

Whenever you wish for an admonition, turn aside

Whenever you wish to be admonished, head

at Yathrib, asking about the family of Qaylah.

To Yathrib and ask for the family of Qayla.

وَقِف بِالحيرَةِ البَيضاءِ فَاُنظُر

وَقِف بِالحيرَةِ البَيضاءِ فَاُنظُر

مَنازِلَ مُنذِرٍ وَبَني بُقَيلَه

مَنازِلَ مُنذِرٍ وَبَني بُقَيلَه

And stop at al-Hirah the White, then behold

Stop at Al-Bayda’, the white, and look

the dwellings of Mundhir and the sons of Buqaylah.

At the dwellings of Munthir and Bani Buqayla.
