دَنايا لَيسَ يُؤمِنُها الخِلاطُ
When a young man keeps to himself, he is safe from
When a youth is alone, trust is placed in him
Base deeds against which mingling offers no protection.
Worldly matters that company does not make one safe from
فَلاso no كَذِبٌlie يُقالُis told وَلاand no نَميمٌmalicious gossip
فَلا كَذِبٌ يُقالُ وَلا نَميمٌ
وَلاand no غَلَطٌerror يُخافُis feared وَلاand no غِلاطُsophistry
وَلا غَلَطٌ يُخافُ وَلا غِلاطُ
So no lie is told, nor is there malicious gossip,
No lies are told, no slander,
Nor is any error feared, nor any sophistry.
No mistakes feared, no blunders.
وَكَمand many a نَهَضَrose اِمرُؤٌman مِنfrom بَينِamong قَومٍa company of people

And many a man has risen from among a company,
And how often a man rises from among a people
With a brand of disgrace upon his neck.
Yet in his guidance is naught but shameful disgrace.
