What is lodged in your nature is enough for you,

without wickedness carrying you beyond bounds.

How can a transgressor manage to rise

with loads of sin upon him?

How many a date palm was planted in the ground,

yet no towering growth was destined for it.

Let no naive person rejoice in life,

for it drives one toward destruction.

Truth has found no market among humankind,

and falsehood has never lacked a market.
