We fear the blazing fire, yet our world, though beloved,

Is like a furnace ablaze, filled with flames.

I keep washing my face, seeking purification thereby,

Evening and morning, while my heart is filled with dread.

As though I sought to cleanse its darkness,

Until the hair shielded itself from me with its pure hue.
