    We are blind to the matter until a son of death mounts

    a bier. Blessed be the exalted Lord of the world.

    فَاِسأَل بِصَحَّةِ هَذا أُمَّ أَوعالِ

    Long-lived ibexes do not attain immortality;

    so ask Umm Awʿāl to confirm this.

    I thought that I alone was mistaken, but behold:

    the deeds of all the world's children are like my deeds.

    مَن يَطرُقِ البَيتَ يُؤثِرهُم بِأَجعالِ

    What ails Mecca? There is a band of custodians there;

    whoever visits the House favors them with payments.

    So do not make a fine steed journey through a distant land

    of rugged terrain, unless you have shod it first.
