To be among the foraging creatures,
not to be among the beggars.

The earth's softness is better for bodies
than the company of the world's callous folk.

I see my turning toward death
as freeing me from the need for capable kin.

So from dust to dust,
and from windblown dust to windblown dust.
نَعوذُwe seek refuge بِاللَهِin God مِنfrom غَوانٍbeautiful women

We seek refuge in God from beautiful women,
who assail the mind like raging winds.

And among women's traits of old
is that they are unfair in love.

فيin زَمَنِthe time of الفَقدِloss وَالوَفاةِand death
في زَمَنِ الفَقدِ وَالوَفاةِ
And fidelity shows itself only
in times of loss and death.

How many a dear friend have people said farewell to,
who departed without a thought of looking back.
