ثَلاثُ مَراتِبٍ مَلَكٌ رَفيعٌ

ثَلاثُ مَراتِبٍ مَلَكٌ رَفيعٌ

وَإِنسانٌ وَجيلٌ غَيرُ إِنسِ

وَإِنسانٌ وَجيلٌ غَيرُ إِنسِ

Three ranks: an exalted angel,

And a human, and a kind other than humankind.

فَإِن فَعَلَ الفَتى خَيراً تَعالى

فَإِن فَعَلَ الفَتى خَيراً تَعالى

إلى قِنسِ المَلائِكِ خَيرِ قِنسِ

إلى قِنسِ المَلائِكِ خَيرِ قِنسِ

So if the youth does good, he rises

To the kind of angels, the best of kinds.

وَإِن خَفَضَتهُ هِمَّتُهُ تَهاوى

وَإِن خَفَضَتهُ هِمَّتُهُ تَهاوى

إِلى جِنسِ البَهائِمِ شَرِّ جِنسِ

إِلى جِنسِ البَهائِمِ شَرِّ جِنسِ

And if his aspiration brings him low, he falls

To the kind of beasts, the worst of kinds.
