    This life is a distance to traverse, so bear it patiently,

    So that you may depart without blame.

    Who will bring me a swift she-camel, a night traveler's headstrong mount?

    For the pale camels have not praised those of sound judgment.

    The oppressor's soul, when it falls and then rises,

    Is as though it were the prayer of the oppressed.

    وَسَرى الأَنامُ عَلى رِكابِ اللُومِ

    As for the riding camels of generosity, they are doomed;

    And humankind traveled by night on the camels of baseness,

    In a world where God has taken away their minds,

    So they all became bereft of knowledge.
