The steeds of Time raided them,

As though their steeds had never raided.

And indeed their child used to ride them,

Still bound to suckling, his teeth not yet grown.

And who can ward off primordial fate

When its mouth is opened wide for prey?

Hope in life has indeed deceived me,

As though I were naïve about what Time does.
