The sovereign washed his lands clean of their people

with water, when they brought foul disgrace.

And it is said that God—exalted be His praise—

will one day purify His earth with fire.

Many a Muslim worshipped desire, and I found him

in what he declares lawful, like one who ties on a non-Muslim's girdle.

They lied in claiming guidance, for all of them

wander in a wilderness without a beacon.

So flee with your faith from those people, for they

have robbed you and fought one another over the dinar.
