The bees have gone forth at dawn to their blossoms.

Alas for you, O bees! For whom do you earn?

A honey-gatherer comes with his tools.

So he licks the honey, and you do not sting.

Do you reckon your lifespan with knowledge of it?

No, rather you live and do not reckon.

Have you any knowledge of your forefathers?

How many fathers, over time, do you trace your lineage to?

Do you suppose Time to be heedless?

Far from it! Things are not as you suppose.
