as it drives its war-bands toward their death.

for many a soul has lamented its sorrows.

And rain-pouring clouds have passed me by,

denying me their drizzle and their downpour.

for wild beasts do not blame the one who denies them water.

whose great goblets brim at midmorning?

    Wine inhabits their bodies when

it has left its Qanaṣ and its Babylon.
