العَقلُreason إِنif يَضعُفgrows weak يَكُنit will be مَعَwith
هَذِهِthis الدُنِّياworld كَعاشِقِlike a lover of مومَسٍa harlot تُغويهِshe leads him astray
Reason, if it weakens, is with
this world like a harlot’s lover whom she leads astray;
أَوor يَقوَgrows strong فَهِيَthen she لَهُto it كَحُرَّةٍlike a freeborn woman عاقِلٍsensible
حَسناءَbeautiful يَهواهاit loves her وَلاand not تُهويهِshe brings it low
or, if it grows strong, she is to it like a freeborn, sensible woman,
beautiful, whom it loves, but who does not bring it low.
