O my Lord, bring me out to the abode of contentment,

quickly, for this is a world turned upside down.

They have remained like a circle, part of which has shifted

from another part, so the whole of it is reversed.

There is no discernment among them, and the best you see

in his faith hobbles like a hamstrung beast.

They seek profit through loss, and through harm

a good reward; so all of them suffer loss.

And I see kings who do not protect their subjects—

so why are tribute and tolls collected?
