O long-bodied camel, away from whoever journeyed by night, sent forth for God,

    a stout-cheeked she-camel, long-bodied under saddle or at pasture,

on a clear, well-trodden road whose travelers do not return,

like Ibn al-Abras when he ended up slain.

As for humankind, I have indeed kept their company for a time,

but among friends I accepted none as a companion.

Do not visit them like sorrow entering and assailing them

against their will, but like a load of goodness brought along.
