My drinking by a pebble’s measure from a rock hollow,
Drink up my cup through gentle sips,
and my eating the East in the West,
And eat with grace from east to west,

More cherished by me than their food,

O impoverished one, all are bound for dust;
O provider of my state, we all turn to dust,
so shun envy of the wealthy.
So spare me the envy of foes at rest.
