إِلىto حُسنِgracefulness of التَجَّمُّلِoutward decorum وَالنِفاقِand hypocrisy
Meeting people has forced me, against my will,
To polished manners and hypocrisy.
وَماand not أَلقىI meet عَريباًanyone بِاِختِياريby my own choice
وَلَكِنand yet حُمَّwas decreed ذَلِكَthat بِاِتِّفاقِby chance
And I meet no one of my own free will,
Yet that was decreed by chance.

And a young man may venture into death's depths,
For fear of his companions' gossip.

And the lutes resound as heralds,
Gleaming amid sins with their clamor.
