يَنوبُنا وَمُهودٌ بَينَ أَرحامِ

Life, death, and events whose changes

Befall us, and cradles amid wombs—

أَمرٌ حَمى النَومَ بَعدَ الفِكرِ صاحِبَهُ

أَمرٌ حَمى النَومَ بَعدَ الفِكرِ صاحِبَهُ

وَمِثلُهُ لِرُقادٍ وارِدٍ حامِ

وَمِثلُهُ لِرُقادٍ وارِدٍ حامِ

A matter that, after reflection, denied its thinker sleep,

And its like guards an approaching slumber.
