إِذا صَاحَبتَ في أَيّامِ بُؤسٍ

إِذا صَاحَبتَ في أَيّامِ بُؤسٍ

فَلا تَنسَ المَوَدَّةَ في الرَخاءِ

فَلا تَنسَ المَوَدَّةَ في الرَخاءِ

If you have made friends in days of hardship,

Then do not forget that affection in prosperity.

وَمَن يُعدِم أَخوهُ عَلى غِناهُ

وَمَن يُعدِم أَخوهُ عَلى غِناهُ

فَما أَدّى الحَقيقَةَ في الإِخاءِ

فَما أَدّى الحَقيقَةَ في الإِخاءِ

And he whose brother suffers want, though he himself is wealthy,

Has not fulfilled the true duty of brotherhood.

وَمَن جَعَلَ السَخاءَ لِأَقرَبيهِ

وَمَن جَعَلَ السَخاءَ لِأَقرَبيهِ

فَلَيسَ بِعارِفٍ طُرُقَ السَخاءِ

فَلَيسَ بِعارِفٍ طُرُقَ السَخاءِ

And whoever reserves generosity for his closest kin

Does not know the ways of generosity.
