إِذا كُنتَ في نَخلٍ جَناهُ مُيَسَّرٌ

إِذا كُنتَ في نَخلٍ جَناهُ مُيَسَّرٌ

لَكَفِّكَ فَاِهتِف بِالضَعيفِ إِلى النَخلِ

لَكَفِّكَ فَاِهتِف بِالضَعيفِ إِلى النَخلِ

If you are among date palms whose fruit is within easy reach

If you are in a palm tree, sheltered and comfortable

Of your hand, then call the weak person to the date palms.

Free your palms and call out to the weak one, to the palm tree

فَإِن لَم يَعُد فَاِبعَث لَهُ سَهمَ طارِقٍ

فَإِن لَم يَعُد فَاِبعَث لَهُ سَهمَ طارِقٍ

لِتُؤجِرَ أَو تُدعى البَريءَ مِنَ البُخلِ

لِتُؤجِرَ أَو تُدعى البَريءَ مِنَ البُخلِ

And if he does not return, send him a night visitor's share,

If he does not return, send him a piercing arrow

So that you may be rewarded, or be called free of stinginess.

So you may give charity or be called innocent of stinginess

أَبى اللَهُ أَخذي دَرَّ ضَأنٍ وَماعِزٍ

أَبى اللَهُ أَخذي دَرَّ ضَأنٍ وَماعِزٍ

وَإِدخالِيَ الأَمرَ المُضِرَّ عَلى السَخلِ

وَإِدخالِيَ الأَمرَ المُضِرَّ عَلى السَخلِ

God forbade my taking the milk of sheep and goats,

God has refused that I take the pearls of sheep and goats

And my bringing harm upon the lambs and kids.

Or that I introduce the harmful matter to the foolish
