If two sons of a single father are found

one a noble steed, the other a donkey—do not marvel.

For Ṭawīl, the noble meter of verse,

has Madīd for a brother, yet Madīd did not excel.

And every man, in time, perishes,

whether of the line of ʿAdnān or Yashjub.
