If two people come together in a dwelling

for a misdeed, both are disgraced forever.

Fortunes are apportioned among their recipients,

yet they perish, and so will those who have not yet perished.

    فَكُن مِثلَ سَيفِكَ حِلفَ الرُبَد

    And in a man's solitude lies concealment for him;

so be, like your sword, a companion of sheaths.

And never approach the daughter of the vines,

the sister of joy and mother of foam.

For if she grants a young man ease for an hour,

she will then leave him in distress.

And after youth's raven, you have remained

    a companion of hawks—so fall, O Lubad.
