أَرى حُسنَ البَقاءِ لِمَن يُرَجّي

أَرى حُسنَ البَقاءِ لِمَن يُرَجّي

فَلاحاً أَو بِهِ رَجُلٌ يَعيشُ

فَلاحاً أَو بِهِ رَجُلٌ يَعيشُ

I see the good in living on for one who hopes

For success, or through whom a man lives.

وَما أَمدي وَلا أَمَّلي بِسامٍ

وَما أَمدي وَلا أَمَّلي بِسامٍ

إِلى نُجحٍ يَكونُ فَكَم أَعيشُ

إِلى نُجحٍ يَكونُ فَكَم أَعيشُ

Neither my span of life nor my hope aspires

To success to come—so how long shall I live?
