Has the ruler of this city no sense

To drive the star-readers from the road?

For many a time they have waylaid the weak,

And have not spared women from assault.

They are human, yet if stoned, they would deserve it,

For they are devils fit for stoning.

When the discerning man reflects, he sees things

That turn laughing women to gloomy silence.

    To both lions, with might,

The hand of onrushing fate sends its calamities:

One lion is counted among the beasts of prey,

And one lion is counted among the stars.
