Grant others the year's yield of your grazing herd in this world, with generosity;
Turn your efforts in life to bring prosperity
And shun poetic rhymes whose final consonants you mismatch.
And turn away from rhyming couplets of verse

Indeed, youth is a fire; if through it you seek
Youth is a fire, if you want something from it
An aim, hasten to achieve it, for time will quench that fire.
Act quickly, for time will extinguish its burn

Bitter cold struck my embers, and I took heed of it;
The embers of my passion were stirred awake
And the fire warms my guest when I warm it.
The fire warms my guest as I kindle its glow

My companion cast charcoal onto it in the darkness;
My companion heaped ashes on it in the dark
Then he rose from beside it with garments to darn.
Then left with clothes perfumed in its smoky scent
